Viswasanthi Cancer Care Project
Viswasanthi Foundation is implementing a project for the succour of thousands of patients affected with the scourge of cancer. The goal is to establish a network of community health centres across Kerala to implement various community-based health programmes, offer compassionate and personalized care and to alleviate pain and suffering. As a first step, a Community Oncology Programme will be initiated which will work on Prevention and Early Detection of Cancer. The organisation envisions this programme to grow into a comprehensive cancer care programme when the time and circumstances are ripe for the transformation.

Objective
- To establish a network of community-based health care centres for prevention, early-detection, and to ensure timely treatment of cancer.
- To provide supportive oncology service (social support, pain-relief and end of life care) to patients with advanced disease.
- To educate community about various aspects of cancer, early-treatment and self- assessment etc.
Project implementation
Viswasanthi Community Health Care centres will have basic facilities like OPD, Ultrasound Scan, X-Ray, Mammography, basic laboratories, etc. The centres will be linked to major cancer care hospitals for complicated diagnosis, surgeries, advanced treatments and radiotherapy. The VCHCs will also have a dedicated team of social workers, volunteer workers, community health professionals for community-related activities like identification, engagement, awareness creation, counselling, home care etc.
