In a significant achievement, the ViswaSanthi Foundation, in collaboration with EY GDS, successfully distributed diapers to adolescents with special needs in Idukki. This initiative was part of the ongoing "Idukki Oru Midukki" program. DISHA, reached a successful conclusion, celebrating the achievements of ten remarkable women from Sriganganagar, a border village in Rajasthan. The program was held in association with EY GDS.
DISHA provided participants with intensive training in finance, auditing, and career-ready soft skills. This comprehensive curriculum empowered the women with the knowledge and tools necessary to thrive in the workforce. The program fostered a supportive environment where participants could not only develop their technical skills but also hone crucial soft skills like communication, time management, and teamwork. As part of our Earth Day initiatives, the Viswasanthi Foundation, NCRMI, and EY GDS partnered to create coir grow bags as a volunteer activity on April 17th and 18th. The goal is to promote awareness about the numerous benefits of coir products. These scientifically designed grow bags are not only environmentally friendly but also provide proven advantages for improving plant growth.

Sree Manoj, the engineer-turned-environmentalist has inspired us by his selfless efforts in environmental conservation, particularly for the future generation. Inspired by his efforts, on World Environment Day, we are proud to announce a small but impactful collaboration. Our volunteers have crafted coir grow bags for the Threads of Sustainability initiative. These bags are used to educate future generations about the misuse of plastic and viable alternatives.&nbsp;
Additionally, we introduced and distributed solar lamps to children, raising awareness about traditional energy production, its environmental impacts, and alternative energy sources. With the help of curated educational narratives and curriculum, we are doing our part to foster environmental awareness and empathy among children.

Nellanad Nallanad (NN) is a Solid waste management initiative conducted in the Nellanad Village of Trivandrum district, Kerala which include the collection, consolidation, and disposal of the non-biodegradable solid waste across Nellanad Panchayat. We will be achieving this by installing Mini Collection Facilities in each of their wards which will facilitate them to collect and segregate waste properly. The long-term outcome of this initiative will be to educate people and build an environmentally responsible population within the village ensuring that there is a sustainable long term effort for a safer and cleaner planet.

Due to its properties like plasticity, lightweight, durability, flexibility, and inexpensive to produce, has led to its widespread use. However, due to wide spread production of single-use plastic materials and slow decomposition rate of plastic in natural ecosystems lead to environmental problems. Plastic collection and recycling is largely ineffective because of the complexity of cleaning and sorting post-consumer plastics. The prime time has occurred such that it is necessary to find alternatives to reduce the usage of plastic.

We collaborated with Tribal skill development centers at Attappadi to turn donated or purchased clothes into stitched cloth bags. As part of plastic-free environment awareness, we are giving 5 stitched cloth bags each to 1500 houses, supermarkets, and grocery stores in Kochi. We are also giving creatively designed plant-able seed pens produced by differently-abled persons which will grow into a plant after its use. Through these activities, we hope to educate and empower our community to avoid the usage of single-use plastic covers and build sustainable practices.

The recent landslides and torrential rains leading to the floods has crippled and damaged the normal life of people in every part of Kerala. Our team were immediately in action and started activities from August 17th onwards, distributing dry grocery, water and clothes to over 1000 families in Wayanad alone, where there are more tribal settlement areas. This and many such remote locations were left stranded. We took up relief activities on priority basis and our volunteers worked tirelessly to mobilise the smooth distribution of collected materials in affected areas.
Lai Cares is the organisation supporting us from GCC countries with collection and transportation of relief items. Right now, our team is getting ready to receive the relief Items coming by way of air and freight Cargo from GCC countries and other countries, upon arrival of these items a meeting of the team will be arranged and the items will be distributed to affected people across Kerala. The items coming includes grocery, clothes, ready to eat food items, medicines, personal hygiene products etc worth Rs 3.5 crore. A team has already been set for overlooking the packaging and proper sorting of these items.

This area, spanning the districts of Alappuzha, Kottayam, and Pathanamthitta, suffers from severe water pollution due to the use of chemical substances in paddy cultivation. To combat this challenge, we have implemented an innovative solution: the deployment of the solar grid powered smart RFID-enabled dispensing automated RO water plant. This cutting-edge plant has the remarkable capacity to produce up to 2000 litres of clean drinking water per hour, benefiting over 1000 individuals, including more than 300 families, schools, and places of worship within the region.

ViswaSanthi's Managing Director, Shri. Major Ravi, inaugurated the facility on behalf of the foundation and Sri Mohanlal. Mr. Sajeev Soman, a director of ViswaSanthi, oversaw the distribution of electronic cards that enable access to clean drinking water. During the ceremony, foundation's plans to install similar water plants in other areas facing drinking water scarcity, aligning with Sri Mohanlal's vision of social service was also announced. The occasion emphasised the importance of sustainable development and ensuring access to clean water for the people of Kuttanad.

Viswasanthi Education Grant

Simran, five year old from Bihar with congenital heart disease did not have access to affordable medical care. Her surgery which her parents could not afford within their limited means was facilitated by Viswasanthi Foundation which helped the young girl dream again.&nbsp; A collaborative healthcare initiative, Amritadhara bringing together the expertise of Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, this initiative aims to provide critical medical support to children from underprivileged sections of the society. Initially focused on addressing congenital heart conditions in children under the age of 10, the project has expanded to encompass a wider range of surgical procedures. By focusing on children who lack access to proper healthcare, we ensure that they receive the necessary medical care and assistance they deserve.

Education is the most important tool for emancipation of a society. For the underprivileged societies, providing them with quality education and imparting necessary skills to the coming generations will be the biggest harbinger of change. The students from backward sections of the society who are pursuing professional courses are identified and provided financial help for their educational expenses. They are supported throughout the length of the course. This will ensure that they complete the course and acquire the degree. Viswasanthi - TATA ELXSI Shisha Scholarship are currently supporting 100 Polytechnic students from different colleges across Kerala.

The Aim
Bringing sustainability into schools, achieve energy as well as carbon savings and promote a&nbsp;planet friendly behavior as second nature in coming generations.
Humble Beginnings
The project is has been developed for implementation in Govt and Govt Aided schools invarious parts of Kerala starting with Ernakulam district. The first phase of the project has been implemented in the schools, Govt. UP School Padamughal , Govt. UP School Kuttilanji , Govt. RFT VHSS Thevara, Govt. VHSS Maneed , Govt. VHSS Mathirapally Koothattukulam and Govt. VHS Odakkali in Kerala.
The Quantifiable Quotient.
Energy Audit of selected schools through Baseline Survey identified six schools with a potential&nbsp;annual carbon mitigation of 27.76 tCO2 in addition to energy savings of 0.35 lakh units&nbsp;amounting to Rs 1.55 lakh per annum.&nbsp;Fast track implementation of Phase 1 of the project included&nbsp;replacement of legacy electrical fittings and appliances with energy efficient alternatives&nbsp;such as BLDC fans and LED lights. Phase 2 involved the active utilization of a renewable andnon polluting source of energy through installation of low cost domestic Solar Power Units in theschools.
The combined immediate tangible benefit, as brought out above is motivation enough forexpanding the project further and for emulation by other responsible institutions of the state.
The Intangible Incentive.
The project being executed in schools has the bonus of enhancing awareness in young minds&nbsp;regarding such simple, cost effective methods of mitigating human induced climate change onebaby step at a time.Tailor made tool kits have also been designed alongside, to make carbon&nbsp;footprint awareness a part of one&rsquo;s routine decision making process. Home energy calculators&nbsp;designed for easy assessment of each household by the children themselves is another useful&nbsp;tool. Children themselves can be harbingers of planet friendly lifestyles in each family.&nbsp;The enthusiastic participation and acceptance we received from approximately two thousand&nbsp;students and their teachers from six schools fills us with hope; for the success of the project and&nbsp;more importantly for the future of our planet.
The Future
Further widening of the scope and reach of the project to go from an individual school levelawareness and mitigation programme to a community supported positive climate action plan. Done under the guidance of Energy Management Centre, Kerala, Project Triple S is one of our popular projects and is in the process of expanding to states outside Kerala.&nbsp;

To address this issue, the ViswaSanthi Development Foundation has partnered with Ernst &amp; Young to launch the E-Race project, a CSR initiative aimed at creating an E-Waste-free zone through collection and recycling.

The campaign took place from December 12th to December 16th, 2022, at Technopark and KINFRA in Trivandrum, as well as Infopark in Kochi, resulting in the collection of 900 kilograms of E-Waste.

The program took place from April 24th to April 28th, 2023, across five offices of EYGDS in Kerala. Spirited volunteers actively participated in the program, resulting in the collection of 644.39 kilograms of E-waste in total for the drive from both locations: Thiruvananthapuram (Thejaswini, KINFRA) with 286.11 kilograms and Kochi (Athulya, Carnival phase 2, Carnival Phase 2, Carnival Phase 4, Smartcity) with 358.28 kilograms.

&nbsp;An initiative of VSF aimed at supporting government and aided educational institutions in Kerala, enabling their true potential and helping them achieve their aspirations.
This comprehensive program takes a 360-degree transformative approach with a profound purpose: to enhance the quality of education in schools by providing tailored support, fostering social responsibility, and ensuring equitable allocation of funds.
Through targeted assistance such as infrastructure upgrades and technology integration, Project Kalalayam strives to create equal opportunities for all students. It goes beyond academics, promoting environmental sustainability, community engagement, and ethical values to instil a sense of social responsibility. Moreover, the program offers career counselling, mentorship, and guidance, equipping students with essential social skills, effective time management, and the ability to achieve their life goals.
Addressing critical issues, drug awareness programs and enrichment of school libraries are conducted. It also supports sports and the arts, nurturing talents and providing avenues for artistic expression. In summary, Project Kalalayam, with its tailored assistance, social responsibility initiatives, and commitment to equitable support, is dedicated to transforming educational institutions, empowering students, and creating a brighter future for all.

Kalalayam-School Transformation

Project Hamdardi is a unique humanitarian outreach program aimed at improving human development indices in villages along the India-Pakistan border in Rajasthan. As a pioneering effort, the Viswasanthi Foundation provided 100 laptops to 12 schools and a community library in the area, positively impacting approximately 1000 secondary and higher secondary students by granting them access to ICT resources. This initiative has significantly contributed to the Digital India Campaign.
In an event held on April 17, 2023 Major General DS Bisht, SM, VSM, Officer Commanding, Amogh Division, distributed the laptops to the school principals in the presence of the civil administration of Sriganganagar and local bodies of Gajsinghpur at Mukan (2FC), a Model Village adopted by the Indian Army. During the event, the Foundation's representative addressed the school staff, students, local bodies, and civil administration, assuring them of continuous efforts towards the betterment of the border villages.

Appopanthadi, a story-telling project not just about getting kids to read; it's a heartfelt mission to open up a world of possibilities for children from underprivileged backgrounds. We have a vision, where every child, regardless of socio-economic challenges, has access to the magic of books and knowledge, instilling in them not just the habit of reading but a love for it.
Our journey begins with the belief that knowledge can be a powerful force of change, especially for those who might not have easy access to it. That's why we dream of creating story rooms in areas where kids face infrastructural challenges, be it due to socio-economic hardships or geographical limitations. It's a step towards bridging the educational gap, providing opportunities for intellectual growth in those who need it the most.
But our mission goes beyond reading, our focal point being environmental literacy. It&rsquo;s about reconnecting the younger generation with nature. We've seen how the disconnect with the environment has led to destruction and apathy. The project involved converting used clothes into cloth bags and creating seed pens to promote sustainable living practices. Through door-to-door distribution and an extensive awareness campaign, the initiative reached six wards, with dedicated volunteers educating residents about the benefits of eco-friendly alternatives. The collective efforts of the volunteers and the Project Parivartan team have contributed significantly to creating a sustainable and plastic-free environment in Kochi.

In December 2022, a green initiative named Parivartan was born with the purpose of &ldquo;Transforming Communities Together&rdquo;.

In response to this issue, our project aims to provide a comprehensive course that is accessible to all, designed to empower women with the essential skills and confidence needed to secure job opportunities in the field.

In addition, participants will develop crucial soft skills such as Communication, Time Management, Personal Development, Problem Solving, and Teamwork. The program also includes dedicated career sessions focusing on Career Counselling, Interview Skills, and Business Etiquette.&nbsp;
